The Volkswagen Group has announced a nearly $31 billion dollar investment timeline that will result in the creation of 70 new models of electric vehicles and the phasing out of combustion engine model production by 2026. Sten Forsberg, the Head of VW Cars in Sweden, has stated that the goal is not only achieving carbon neutrality for the vehicles, but also for the production process. As part of this timeline, the factory in Zwickau Germany will switch to the exclusive production of electric vehicles in November 2019, closely followed by the production facilities in Hanover, Dresden, and Emden.
