Livingston Energy Group Celebrates Company Anniversary

Updated: Feb 8, 2023

HISTORY

On April 4, 2021, Livingston Energy Group celebrated its 5th company anniversary. Founded by energy efficiency professionals in 2016, Livingston Energy Group is a clean energy company based in New York State's Capital Region offering a wide array of services across the United States from basic project consultations to complete turnkey energy upgrades. To minimize out-of-pocket investments and ongoing operating costs for clients, Livingston Energy Group provides several services for project design, management, and financing, as well as funding assistance where applicable.

Livingston's purpose is multi-faceted, with a mission to highlight the importance of combatting climate change and work with state and nationwide climate goals by facilitating the adoption of increasingly efficient technologies and reducing unit energy consumption while saving clients' spending.

Livingston's founders initially found success in LED lighting, providing affordable energy efficiency upgrades to a diverse clientele portfolio, including small, commercial, and industrial businesses, schools and colleges, non-profits, and various clients in the hospitality industry. With these achievements under their belt and a foot in the clean energy industry's door, the company's partners decided to aim the large majority of Livingston's focus on electric vehicle (EV) charging station development and deployment, crucial to increasing EV adoption and achieving climate goals.

To celebrate Livingston's commitment to sustainable technologies, a flag was flown over the United States Capitol Building in honor of the company's fifth anniversary on April 4, 2021.

GROWTH DURING COVID-19

According to the Small Business Administration (SBA), the 2019 failure rate of small businesses was around 90%, highlighting that 21.5% failed in their first year, 30% in the second, and 50% in the fifth[i]. Add a global pandemic to the mix, and you have a recipe for disaster.

While everyone witnessed the detrimental impact COVID-19 had on businesses of all sizes across several sectors, Livingston Energy Group remains thankful that it defied the odds, making 2020 a year of outstanding growth for the company.

At the start of 2020, occupants of Livingston's offices included just its founders and General Manager. As a participant in several internship programs and partnerships with state organizations and local colleges and universities, Livingston Energy Group provided a plethora of internship positions, the majority of which turn into full-time employment offers. With the addition of multiple full-time employees and interns turned employees, in 2020 alone, Livingston experienced a growth rate of 433% (463% to date) and an employee retention rate of about 75%, which speaks to the culture and office environment that Livingston creates and the opportunities the company offers. Livingston now has robust teams in sales and services, marketing and public relations, financing and funding, legal counsel, project coordination and management, software and development, and information technology. In response to employment growth, Livingston also went through various phases of expansion, tripling their offices' size.

Finally, through continued participation in EV programs, work with state agencies, and partnerships with utility companies, Livingston expanded its charging locations across all regions of New York State. Currently, Livingston is in the process of adding additional charging opportunities, amenities, and programs to its services and is working to increase its presence in states throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest regions of the United States.

EV CHARGING OUTLOOK

Providing a wide array of options to choose from, Livingston Energy Group offers all-encompassing charging experiences.

Livingston Energy Group manufactures its stations through partnerships with U.S.-based companies and is home to its in-house software development team, allowing Livingston's engineers and IT team to update and monitor all station deployments in real-time and provide immediate maintenance when needed. When it comes to each project's other aspects, Livingston's Sales and Services team heavily focuses on implementation management, offering free consultations, site assessments, and designs. Working directly with sales, the Funding team works closely with clients to obtain state and utility incentives and rebates where applicable, making project costs for clients minimal if not entirely free.

Above all, Livingston prides itself on its commitment to customer service and transparency. Following some industry research, discussions with EV drivers, and partnerships with various utility companies, two of a handful of major discoveries included dissatisfaction with necessary maintenance on public charging stations and a lack of knowledge surrounding EV infrastructure. As Livingston continues to grow and change, reliable customer service that is observably missing among much larger EV charging companies is one aspect that does not change. Livingston continues to deliver charging experiences that mirror larger companies with the added benefit of genuine customer support. Suppose any station owners, clients, or EV drivers experience an issue and need customer support. In that case, they speak directly with Livingston's team members that proposed, designed, networked, and installed their stations.

While Livingston is thankful for the opportunities it knows far too many businesses were not fortunate enough to experience in the last year, the company recognizes that it could not have had such success without its clients. However, Livingston acknowledges that the growth it experienced directly represents a new generation of transportation, the EV revolution. If you have been waiting for the perfect time to reach out about EV chargers for your property, business, municipality, or other public space, Livingston is here to say that the time is now! If you would like to install charging stations, see if your location qualifies for current funding programs, or learn more about the process, please reach out to Livingston Energy Group today!
